Audrius Jaugelavicius, Founder, UFI Number
Nobody grows up wanting to do poison centre notifications.
I certainly didn't. I ended up doing them for other people's products, for years. Car care chemicals, cleaning products, candles, whatever my clients were selling that needed a UFI on the label and a file at ECHA. They made the products. I made sure the paperwork existed.
Here is the honest part. The work is not hard. Read the guidance, generate the code, fill in the dossier, check it, send it. The problem is that you do it again next week, for the next product, in the next country, and the hundredth time is exactly as tedious as the first. Tedious work is where mistakes live. Not because people are careless, but because nobody can pay full attention to the same form over and over.
At some point I stopped trying to be more careful and built something to be careful for me. A small tool, for one user. It did the repetitive part so I could spend my attention on the parts that actually needed it.
Then I realised every company that puts a hazardous mixture on the EU/EEA market has the same problem. So I'm turning the tool into a product. It's in private beta now, tested with real product data from businesses I already work with, and their complaints are my roadmap.
The free tools on this site are the parts anyone can use today. If you do this work yourself and you've got a better way, I would like to hear it. If you've got the same pile of forms, I would like to hear that too.
